EnBW Baltic 2 wind farm, Baltic Sea

Following the successful commissioning of its predecessor Baltic 1, new targets were set for this offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea. With 80 wind turbines on an area of 27 km2, Baltic 2 is four times bigger than Baltic 1 and, with a total output of 288 MW, can produce six times as much electricity. Depending on water depth, the turbines were mounted on single piled foundations (“monopoles”), or on three-legged steel structures (“jacket foundations”). The engineering partnership “Inros Lackner – Sellhorn – von Lieberman” was responsible for site supervision and on-site quality control, managing numerous particular technical and logistical challenges right up the commissioning stage.
