Flood protection and re-naturalisation
The replacement with a brand new structure of the Jemnitz sluice gate in the Börgerende - Heiligendamm stormwater flood protection system was implemented with consideration of planned re-naturalisation measures. A deep-founded, solid, three-channel design was selected for the main structure. Not only did this satisfy the flood protection design criteria, it also facilitated the re-naturalisation of the adjacent Lake Conventer. To facilitate the recognition of flooding events, an automated water level measuring system was installed on the structure.
