Coal-fired power station, Wilhelmshaven
New facility with notable foundation

This power station in Wilhelmshaven, with its electrical output of up to 800 megawatts, has been built to supply approximately 5.5 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per year. In common with many power station construction projects on Germany’s North Sea coast, the varying soil conditions in the area presented a particular challenge. Another of the project’s many special features was the crossing underneath the local coastal protection embankment by pneumatic shield tunnelling.
