Baierbrunn hydroelectric power station, Bavaria
Construction of fishway and power plant

At the Isar Weir in Baierbrunn, a fishway was constructed to assist migrating fish in passing the river obstruction, and a power plant was built to operate using the residual water. The main fish migration aid consists of a coarse ramp with low water depth and was built at the existing fixed weir. The rate of water flow through the fishway is 4.2 m3/s. At the power plant, a second possibility for fish in the form of a coarse-channel pool and weir fishway was constructed, to enhance findability. The residual-water power plant was established between the existing weir and the coarse ramp. To generate electricity, a VLH (Very Low Head) turbine was installed. The water flow through the power plant has a rate of up to approx. 14.5 m3/s. Inros Lackner provided construction supervision services for the project.
