Two tracks become three, Germany

The two-track rail connection between the German towns of Stelle and Lüneburg is part of the railway line from Lehrte to Cuxhaven, and belongs to the track network of the German railway company DB AG. The connection has become exposed to increasingly heavy passenger and freight traffic, requiring capacity to be increased. The upgrading of the connection between Stelle and Lüneberg to include a third track enabled freight traffic bottlenecks to be overcome and suburban rail services to be optimised. For Inros Lackner, the project involved the planning and design of the required transportation facilities (along a route of approximately 15 km length, with two stations), and of all engineering structures in the relevant design sections.
