Modern, handicapped-accessible and customer-friendly train stations are a key requirement in increasing acceptance and use by the public of regional rail services. As an extension of previous modernisation programmes and measures, customers in the German state of Niedersachsen are being provided with improved infrastructure, which meets these expectations, at yet more stations. As points of arrival and departure and as connection points to other modes of transport, the train stations of the company DB Station & Service AG are central to this objective. In total, 40 of the company’s stations were modernised as part of this European TEN project under the title “Niedersachsen ist am Zug II“ – or “Niedersachsen is on the train – Part II”.
