Development of irrigation systems
The improvement of irrigation and drainage systems for agricultural areas and the associated education of specialised personnel is an important issue in Vietnam. Working together with two local firms, as appointed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Inros Lackner provided the country’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with project management and consultancy services. The project had three main focuses:
- Development of a new Water Resources University including a campus and institutes, laboratories, residences and other university facilities
- Construction of eight new pumping stations and rehabilitation of two existing pumping stations for the irrigation and drainage of agricultural areas
- Improving the capabilities of existing institutions and establishing organisations in rural areas with the purpose of developing sustainable water supply and distribution infrastructure
