Entrance building on Berlin’s Museum Island
Sophisticated building technology services for the James Simon Gallery

At the end of 2018, the James Simon Gallery was officially handed over to the Berlin State Museums for their future use. The Museum Island is one of the world’s most important history museum ensembles. The new gallery serves, in particular, as an entrance building to the Museum Island, connecting the different museums together more neatly. The elegant three-level structure was designed by architect David Chipperfield and his partner Alexander Schwarz. The upper floor provides access to the Pergamon Museum, the ground floor leads across the courtyard into the New Museum and the underground Archaeological Promenade passes through the Basement.

The new building places high demands in relation to the building services it requires, especially those ensuring climate constancy in the exhibition areas. Inros Lackner is responsible for the design and installation supervision of the building services - heating, ventilation, cooling technology, sanitary, sprinklers and kitchen technology. Testing of the complex technical systems is currently underway. The planning and design process started in 2009.
