103 MILITARY HOSPITAL
Hanoi. Vietnam

1000 beds Military Hospital

The Hanoi Military Hospital 103 is located in Ha Dong following a south – western direction out of the city centre. Densely built-up clusters alternate with unbuilt rural land-and riverscape. The direct neighbourhood to the south and east is dominated by hospital and university campus structure, the northern vicinity is dominated by mixed use and an unbuilt green area. The design replaces the existing campus structure with a compact building that integrates as many of the hospitals functions in one building as possible, thus using synergy effects and minimizing distances as well as increasing flexibility.

The program’s entities have been stacked vertically as far as this was possible without compromising the hospital’s efficiency and functionality. Besides the main building the master plan accounts for separate buildings for the psychiatry, the funeral hall and the infectious disease wards and an infrastructure building, that is connected to the main building at basement level. Inros Lackner was part of a consortium with Nickl&Partner and Cyriax and responsible for building services, structure and providing the role of the architect of record in Vietnam.
